Tioga United Community Center is a multi-functional community center for all ages. Not only does this center offer traditional spaces, such as a library and conference room, it also provides sustainable systems throughout the building. This teaches community members new strategies for energy reduction. Varied placement of operable windows allow natural ventilation throughout this building. A living machine displayed at the entry of the building purifies gray water and recirculates that water back into the building for reuse. This building also has a series of tiered green roofs to reduce the amount of water run-off and the heating and cooling load on the building.
